The queue of Tamil films based on ‘animal’ genres might be running into big numbers, but they are mostly inclined to stereotypical shades of dogs performing stunts. Filled with an ambitious drive to make a film with difference, debut filmmaker Pradeep Kilkar has arrived with his maiden venture ‘Bow Bow’, which beautifies the relationship between a 5-yr old boy and a dog.
“I had this intention even before crafting the entire script. So far, I have come across the films based on man-animal themes, where we find the latter involved in the mission of stunts and rescue. So I felt, there should be something set on reality grounds. Dogs have been the creatures, who have been the human’s best friend across millenniums. They have sensed each and every human emotion and have shared it unconditionally. Bow Bow will be one such film, where the bonding between 5-yr old boy and a dog will exhibit such prominence. Whenever the boy is seen sad or crying, we will see the dog’s eyes moistened too and happy when its master is joyful,” says filmmaker Pradeep Kilkar.
Working with a kid and dog should have been an excess baggage for a debut filmmaker, isn’t it? On briefing about this experience, he says, “I never knew the fact that many film Institutes would insist the aspiring filmmakers on not to have child artistes in their debut film as it would be more difficult to handle. However, I wanted to break this myth and give a try. Moreover, the little boy Ahaan was quite mischief and wouldn’t give his heed to parents too. Thank God! He would listen to me and I somehow managed to get the things done keeping him in comfort zone.”
Bankrolled by London Talkies, the film has already been screened at various International Film Festivals including Love International Film Festival in Los Angeles and is gearing up for June second week release. Marc B Muse has composed music for songs and Denis Vallaban has scored BGM with Arun Prasad handling cinematography.
