6th Chennai International Short Film Festival Inauguration Stills

Chennai International Short Film Festival (CISFF) inaugural to be held on 16th of February at 6 PM with Director Rajiv Menon, Advt Film Maker Lata Menon, and Actor- Producer Arun Pandian as the Special guests. Over a period of 8 days, the 6th Chennai International Film Festival will screen short films belonging to various genres and languages from across the world and will also have daily interactive sessions with film professionals/ celebrities. All events will be at NFDC Tagore Centre.

Short films from 61 different countries have been submitted online for this edition of the Festival. Today, the 6th Edition of CISFF is the BIGGEST International Short Film Festival to be held in India owing to the total number of short films to be screened and the large number of participating countries. CISFF has partnered with NFDC, the film club Cinema Rendezvous. Foreign dignitaries and bureaucrats will also be gracing the festival along with the city’s film enthusiasts. Owing to popular demand, the festival originally held only in Chennai has also now branched out to Coimbatore.

The festival is presided by Mr. S Kannan – President, Mr. Srinivasa Santhanam – Vice President, Mr. Vignesh Chinnadurai – Festival Director and Ms. Shylaja Chetlur – Additional Director. Entry is free of cost and open to all viewers above 18 years of age as the organizers believe that enhanced viewership is important for the growth and encouragement of the short film aficionados in the city.

The Short films will be screened from morning 11am till evening 8pm, with celebrity interaction session from 5PM to 6PM. Daily interactive sessions will havefilm professionals like Director Vasanth, Visual Designer and Director Siddharth, Actor Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli, Music Director Bharadwaj, Director Elan & others voicing their thoughts on the various aspects of film-making from 17th Feb to 22nd Feb.

The films are divided mainly into 3 categories: Animation, Documentary and Fiction with awards across all categories. Screening schedule has been updated on the website. A jury comprising of directors, actors and technicians will be judging the films based on various aspects. Awards across all categories will be announced on the 23rd of February during the closing ceremony.

Actor Bobby Simha and director Balaji Tharaneedharan will be the Chief Guests for the Valedictory Ceremony happening on the 23rd of February, 2019. Prominent South Indian film professionals, directors, artists and cinematographers are set to grace this event. This is sure to be an attractive proposition for any budding film maker as it is an opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business.

These short-films have been curated exclusively to be viewed in short film festivals and cannot be found on YouTube or other freeware video-viewing platforms. This year’s foreign film selection will celebrate contributions from United States, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Sri Lanka and various other countries. To break the language barrier, movies in International Languages have all been subtitled in English to enhance viewer understanding. Also, all the short films have been digitally remastered by QUBE for viewing on the big screen.
