When music speaks beyond notations, the listeners’ senses get so much imbibed for they are personified beyond metaphorical references. The notes become the souls and enkindle in us the unconditional adherence. Undoubtedly, Sam CS is manifesting such paradigms with his musical dynamism. Be the orchestral chorus of heroic impact in Vikram Vedha BGM that sounded exactly as a ballad (Storytelling) or the emotional essence in Puriyaatha Puthir, they have significantly possessed us unfailing to vaporize from our minds. Now the reigning music director embarks on his journey in God’s own country through Mohanlal’s Odiyan offering the background score.
“Soon after the release of Vikram Vedha, I got many offers including the ones from Bollywood for background score. But I am a staunch believer that I have to offer a wholesome package to a film rather than being confined to a particular zone. But I couldn’t refrain when I was approached Mohanlal sir’s Odiyan. Such intriguing was its premise laced with non-linear narration,” says Sam CS. In a relentless excitement, he gets to reveal more about the musical prominence the tale of Odiyan carries. “It’s a thriller set against the backdrops of a particular time period and region, which gave me an instant ideation to utilize the ancient ethnic musical instruments of Kerala,” tots up Sam CS.
When asked to enlighten about the unique instrumentals that he has used in Odiyan, he astonishes us saying, “Usually when we think of Bamboo associated with instruments, it would be a mere flute. But there is 6ft long Bamboo instrument, which is known for its casting esthetical spell. We came across just one old lady, who knows to play it and used her for this film.”
Sam CS has already fascinated the entire team of Odiyan by completing the score for few portions even before it could be filmed. The young magnetizing musician who grew up in the aromatic misty hills of Munaar feels paradisiacal for couple of things – One being associated with Mohanlal in his debut and other one, Odiyan being an unconventional premise to experiment with his musical strokes.
Meanwhile,Sam CS is pretty much occupied with back to back projects that includes Karu, Gorilla, Adanga Maru, Mr. Chandramouli, Vanjagar Ulagam and few more in the pipeline.
